Neal Winneg
Neal is a seasoned executive with particular expertise in legal and transactional issues. He has been General Counsel of several high profile technology-oriented firms over the past 25 years, from start-ups to public companies. He is currently an advisor, investor, mentor and board member in and for both for-profit and not-for-profit entities, as well as an adjunct faculty member. He has deep experience in software, consumer, and education related industries.
After beginning his career at Skadden Arps as a corporate lawyer specializing in securities and large and complex M&A transactions, Neal has been an executive officer and General Counsel for a variety of fast-growing companies. Among them were The Learning Company, a $3.8 billion market cap consumer software company, Upromise, which operated an internet-based business-to-consumer marketing and affinity program, and The Princeton Review, one of the two leading test preparation and educational services providers in the U.S. More recently he was primarily responsible for running sales process resulting in successful exits at two successive early-stage, venture backed digital advertising technology companies. Neal has been recognized by Massachusetts Lawyer’s Weekly as an “In-House Leader in the Law”.
Neal currently teaches in the transactional program at Boston University School of Law, serves on a number of Boards, coaches executives both within and outside the legal function, and advises and invests in early stage companies through a variety of vehicles.
